In the midst of a caregiving revolution, "The Care Gap" emerges as the critical ecosystem for families, workplaces, government, and economies to learn more about care and the care economy and take action to recognize, reduce, redistribute, and reward the care work that fuels our homes, institutions, and markets. Spearheaded by yours truly, Blessing Adesiyan, Chief Care Economist + CEO of The Care Gap & Caring Africa, this newsletter is your weekly dispatch at the forefront of change—where every percentage point and policy shift is dissected and discussed.
Caregiving isn't just a personal issue; it's the silent engine of our economies and the soft fabric of our societies. Yet, the gap between what is and what could be remains vast. "The Care Gap" is dedicated to closing that divide, bringing you the raw, unfiltered data that underpins our work-life balance, and offering clear, actionable insights that catalyze transformation in homes, workplaces, and policy circles.
I am a mother of four with a background in Chemical Engineering, Energy & Sustainability, and Business - spending over two decades working for five Fortune 100 companies - BASF, DuPont, PepsiCo, Cargill, Total Petroleum - leading operations and managing energy infrastructures across the United States and EMEA region.
I walked into Corporate America as a black woman, immigrant, single and breastfeeding mother in a predominantly male profession - manufacturing. My experiences as a young mother piecing together various care solutions for my children and aging parents shaped my approach to caregiving and work, and I started Mother Honestly (MH) back in 2018 in the heart of Detroit, Michigan as a place for parents, caregivers, and workplaces to find resources and solutions for caregiving, work and life. Today MH reaches over 25 million parents, caregivers, employers, and employees of all kinds globally via various social channels / platform.
I host “The Care Gap” podcast with over 1M+ downloads and I am also the convener of the largest workplace care gathering, the Care At Work Summit, Caring Workplaces and Caring Leadership Award. I co-founded the CareForce and Chamber Of Mothers in the height of the pandemic, supported hundreds of workplaces, over 500,000 mothers, and have spoken at TechCrunch, FastCompany, Amazon, AdWeek, Fortune, NASA, SAP, Google, American Bankers Association, and more.
